George Widenor's comments reflect my thoughts regarding Bruce Rule's passing as I could not think of a finer or more eloquent tribute. May God's blessings be with his family. Rest in peace, shipmate.
All those ratios, source determinations, configurations and other details we needed to remember and analyze were determined by people like Bruce Rule. No matter how competent we may have thought we were each of us would have been an apprentice to Bruce. We salute him for his unparalleled contributions to our system and to our country.
It is a sad occasion when we remember Bruce in the past tense. I only had two occasions to work with him during my entire career. One involved the first Delta patrol in the pacific with numerous BCP instances in vertical multi-path complexity while serving as Analysis LCPO on Midawy. The other was a collaboration with Bruce and Will James following his extended analytical effort at Adak.
This man forgot more about detailed acoustics than I ever learned. A brilliant acoustic theoretician with the ability to clearly articulate key features to others less talented.
Fair Winds Bruce. We will meet again. My sincere condolences to family and friends.
I got to work with Bruce on several occasions at an overseas location. He was an acoustic analyst " par excellence" and always willing to share his knowledge.
