Re: Facebook (Edited by Author)

Hey Randy,

I know of several system related groups on facebook:

SOSUS https://www.facebook.com/groups/sosus

OTS and OTAs/OTMs https://www.facebook.com/groups/15060769538

IUSS members https://www.facebook.com/groups/IUSS.Members

Navy Reunion Group - For NAVFAC's in the Pacific Region https://www.facebook.com/groups/219685959383128

I think there are a couple more too.

Hope that helps

Re: Facebook

Thanks!

Re: Facebook

Randy, I was happy to see your application for membership on the “OTs/OTAs and OTMs” Facebook page. I am Admin (Manager) of that page. I accepted your application. I also accepted the application of Master Chief Johnny Ellis. He and Pat applied about the same time as you and Chris.

You may be interested in joining two other Facebook groups I also manage or co-manage - “IUSS Members” and “NAVFAC Keflavik, Iceland”.

Several other IUSS/SOSUS commands, (NAVFACs, NOPFs, COSL, COSP etc.) also have FB pages. Example: I know you were stationed at NAVFAC Argentina, Newfoundland. They also have a page.

Welcome Aboard!

- Jim

secret installation, very hush hush.

Re: Facebook

When I received orders to Arg while at NavSuppAct Brooklyn, my PN said to me he did not know we had a base in Argentina. I told him it was Argentia. BTW, in case anyone asks why a retired Army Colonel is a member, I spent three wonderful years at Argentia as a Seabee EA1 and then as the NavFac Command Career Counselor for CDR LF Lee and LCDR MA Frederick, during which I cross-rated to NC1. I seemed to be the only Seabee with a clearance, so whenever the T-Bldg had a mechanical problem, I was called. Then I would return with whoever I needed to make the repairs, but everything was covered over. I recall one plumbing problem, but I will never say what clogged the pipes!
While at Argentia, I was accepted into the Navy JAG Corps Student program and commissioned as a line ENS under Instruction for JAGC. At Argentia, we had a LT JAG, who I ran into four years later at GTMO. The last time he saw me at ARG I was PO1, and by GTMO I was LT and he was still LT. That seemed to bother him! I later transferred to Army JAG and after eventual promotion to full bird Colonel, served in Iraq and then retired after 40 years total service. Navy is still my first love, and at Army-Navy games, I always sit Navy side. Canada threw us a great Bicentennial celebration in St John's. CAN DO
Bill
