Armed Forces Retiremen Home, Washington, D.C. (Edited by Author)
Nita and I have move to the AFRH in DC. Today, we were vised by SeCNav who detailed his sincere effort to increase navy funds and the challenges of the arctic and other regions. It was a nice meeting. For shipmate, over 60 and vets with injuries, the AFRH DC is a nice alternative to those who need medical care. I suggest you look into the benefits of the retirement home. Nita and I enjoy the fellowship of shipmates and others vets from other departments. The apartments are small but adequate, laundry is free, along with three meals a day, the church is on the grounds. A permanent priest and minister are here through most of the week. Trips are planned. Check it out, shipmates.Additionally, the AFRH is available to other groups of vets,
Pat and I have friends (retirees) living as couples at the AFRH in Biloxi, Ms.
From their input, it would seem that the accomodations and services are consistent among the various AFRH's around the country. The Biloxi unit has entertainment on occasions and some of their friends get invited and have a "night out". Hopefully that'a a service that's consistent as it seems to be a good way for the residents to stay in touch with their old friends.
I'm glad we have the options of AFRH's and it good to hear they are being utilized.
Might be there myself before too long.
