I was recently told the same thing by base security at 32nd Street San Diego. When I last got my ID renewed when I turned 65 I was told this would be my last ID card. So much for last time 😀. Call old but I like the old format over the new format.

I was able to request my new USID card using the online website and got the new card within about 10 days.
I found out about the switch from the legacy card to the new Next Generation USID in a monthly DFAS Newsletter. Made an appt online and went to Shaw AFB and got my card a few days later. Not a big deal. They let me keep my blue ID card for posterity too.
