So sorry to hear about the passing of Capt Benter. He was a good, steady CO who really changed the temper of Kef. I'm sure I caused him a few gray hairs but I always admired and respected his firm, direct leadership. My condolences to his family.

Captain Benter was a fine CO in Keflavik and an equally fine man. He reenlisted me and did so with sincerity and understood the significance of a sailor continuing his career. It wasn't just a routine ceremony with him, you could just sense how seriously he administered that oath. May he rest well on the other side and smile down on all those he touched.
