A Shipmate's Passing

Ed Dornig’s wife, Laurie, notified me yesterday of Ed’s passing on December 6, 2025, in Nashua, N.H., from heart failure and complications of advanced Alzheimer's disease. Ed enlisted in the USN in October 1961; was a shipmate at NavFac Argentia in 1964 and later served at NavFac Barbados until his RAD in February 1966. He was a 1971 graduate of Bentley College in Medfield, MA, his hometown, with a degree in accounting and was employed with the IRS for 25 years. Marcy and I were fortunate to have Ed visit with us in DeLand, FL, in February 2022, during one of his many visits over the past 40 years to the Daytona 500 stock car races. Ed leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Laurie Dornig, and his daughter Bethany of Medfield, as well as many cousins and friends. You may wish to read Ed’s article in the November 2017 edition of The Cable, entitled, “Great Memories”. Rest in peace, shipmate.
