Last night I watched this episode for the first time in quite a while. I have a few takeaways that I want to post.
1. Joanna Clay becomes instantly rich after her father dies before selling the boatyards. I doubt that he had time to change his will before dying. But then again she is such an advanced alcoholic how long would she live to enjoy it?
2. The commodore is a 100% sourpuss. I mean who wants to be around that? Lisa obviously.
3. Ending clue of "Tisnt" is weak.
4. The horn on Swannie's kittle boat needs major help.
5. Sge Kramer and Mack follow Columbo around like 2 puppy dogs.
Good points! I wonder if Matti has watched this one yet? Let's see if he thinks this episode is strange like many of us do. ( not regular format, Columbo strange mannerisms, etc)
Love the subject line and yes you're absolutely right the Commodore was very much a sourpuss. But Swawnie was the real creep. Trying to frame sick and alcoholic Mrs Clay to the crime in inhuman. I'm always wondering that if Charles knew about this why didn't he go directly to the police himself? Probably trying to protect his wife? I think that the cops would have nailed the right person anyway but he had to pursue it in the way that he did and of course that got Charles killed too
I guess a lot of people who become amateur detectives in stories end up being the next victim, but Charles Clay is the only one I can think of in a Columbo episode (not counting all those blackmailers). Are there any others?
