Just checking in to see if there is anyone around that served in A Company 66-67. Have great memories of my time at Beavers.

44th Engineer Battalion

1966 - 1967

North Carolina

The 44th was based at Camp Carroll but moved north to Camp Beaver to re-build a bridge (originally a RR bridge but we converted the bombed out remains to a highway bridge). I intend to do more research but my first assignment was to build a BOQ. Hope to return to see the bridge. It was completed after I left but I have seen some pictures of it.

I am researching for a book that I’m writing. I found Fort Beavers in some of my father’s letters.

I have letters and documents from my father when he was in Korea. In the spring or summer of 1965 he was transferred to Vietnam. He was almost finished with his tour in Korea but LBJ ramped up the U.S. presence in Vietnam and my father had to go. He died in Vietnam on September 15, 1965.
He was also a WW Two veteran.
I would be thrilled if anyone could give me more information about my dad.

Kelso! are you still singing, my brother? I was the white boy who played the guitar for you. Cold ass winters. Patrolling them hills above Tae Jon Ni in the middle of the night in sub zero weather.Always stayed on the good side of Medics and Cooks.Loved those 3 day field maneuvers in the dead of winter up by the DMZ.If anyone remembers me, please contact me. Otherwise, I never existed!!
